Angus Cycle Hub encourage people to live healthier lives and reduce car journeys and CO2 emissions through cycling and recycling. We run two community based projects based in Arbroath and Dundee, Scotland. We are committed to our community and want them involved in everything we do at Cycle Hub which is why we love volunteers! We have a variety of roles of varying lengths of commitment time. Whatever your background, identity or ability, there’s a volunteer spot with your name on it. We have a list of volunteer roles you can choose from, but we are ultimately flexible around you and your available time commitment, experience, interests and goals. We want to make sure we find something that fits you best and offers opportunity for growth, development and progression with us. In the past, our volunteers have supported us at our events, in our shops and workshops, and with our Bikeability program in schools. Our dedicated team of Volunteer Workshop Mechanics collect bikes left at Recycling Centres in Angus and bring them back to our warehouse in Forfar to upcycle and fix so they can be delivered to children in need throughout Angus and Dundee. This is an excellent role for anyone who wishes to be involved in a hands on role and is by far the most popular of our volunteer roles at the Cycle Hub. You will be supported by our Velotech trained mechanics and be granted an unlimited opportunity to learn about bikes or hone your already existing skills. You will be supported by our head Recycles mechanic, Jason, and an assigned mentor at our Arbroath basewhere you can work towards various individually set goals. Once you have completed our Recycles Volunteer Project you will have the opportunity to gain a SQA certified qualification/Velotech qualification. You can either do this within the Recycles Project or branch out and get involved elsewhere, for instance: shop servicing, Dr Bike events and our Maintenance Sessions.

Help us make a difference and support kids to get to schools in a fun, healthy and eco friendly way. We need volunteers to help us with our morning and afternoon cycle buses escorting children to and from school. Our Cycle buses are easy going, fun and slow paced with an aim to give young people the opportunity to practice cycling on the roads and get some fresh air. We are looking for help at our cycle buses in the following areas: Kirriemuir, Montrose, Newtyle, and Dundee. Here are what some of our volunteers have to say about volunteering with us in this role: “I’ve really enjoyed it, I was so nervous to start with as I’m not a huge fan of cycling on roads myself, especially as most of the ones around Newtyle are so bendy! But it was so well set up and really looked forward to going back. Got me back on my bike earlier in the year than normal as well so that’s a plus for me!”

Chaperones look after the children’s safety around the building and assist our artistic team to support children who benefit from a little extra help during rehearsals. The role is a non-musical one as rehearsals are led by our choir leaders. There is no need for applicants to have experience of singing or music-making, but they should be able to demonstrate enthusiasm and encouragement to the children. Chaperones are needed from 3.40pm to 5.50pm on Monday afternoons during choir terms.

*Admin/Accounts Assistant Volunteers for OIBI – a registered charity in partnership with Bergen Associates* The OIBI (Oxford Institute of British Islam), Scottish Office, Aberdeen have exciting volunteer opportunities for people to assist with the following 1. Admin assistance. 2. Accounts Assistance. 3. PR/Publishing Assistance. Duties include helping with aspects such as general admin and office duties. Data Entry Training on software systems. Accounts payable/receivable. Telephone answering. This also includes any other duties appropriate to your skills and experience which may be identified. To provide administrative support to the Director and office. Training and support is provided. This is a great opportunity to help and develop key skills and experience at the same time.
