Burntisland and Kinghorn Foodbank provides much needed support in the community, providing food parcels to individuals in need. Food parcels will soon be distributed once per week from Kinghorn Community Centre on a Saturday from 10 to12.

Would you like to be involved in delivering this essential service within the local community?

Foodbank Assistants are required to set up the room, meet clients to take details, give out food parcels and other items and tidy up at the end of the session. Volunteers will also refer on to agencies that may help clients, and signpost offers available within the community.

Organisation aims and objectives

Burntisland and Kinghorn Foodbank’s Mission is to provide dignified and respectful support to those in the area facing food poverty. We believe no-one should go hungry. Burntisland & Kinghorn Foodbank SCIO is a charity that provides food parcels to individuals in need. Food parcels are distributed twice a week from the Salvation Army Hall in Burntisland, on a Tuesday and a Friday from 12-2pm. There is no need for a referral to use the Foodbank and no appointment is needed. We provide a friendly welcome to anyone who is in need. We believe that nobody should go hungry.

Restrictions

Experience required: The individual must be able to work compassionately with members of the public who come for support and food. Being friendly and open are the most important things, you will get training on the job.
Travel details: The role takes place at Kinghorn Community Centre, Rossland Place, Burntisland.
Minimum age: 16

Warm Welcome Volunteer
  • Heart of Fife Parish Church Youth Services
The Heart of Fife Parish Church are a new Church of Scotland Parish covering the historic parishes of the Glenrothes, Markinch, Thornton, and Leslie areas of Fife. The Church provide a ‘Warm Welcome’ community space, open to the public, every Tuesday and Thursday. The space is offered to the local community, as a space to bring their children, engage in arts and crafts and to enjoy the company of others. A soup lunch is provided on a Tuesday and refreshments on a Thursday. Volunteers are required on both a Tuesday and Thursday to support this initiative. Typically, tasks will involve, welcoming members of the public, setting up, clearing away activities, and serving refreshments.
