Mere Apne is a community group based in Milngavie which provides a safe welcoming place for older
people to socialise. The focus of the group is for people from the Indian Community in East Dunbartonshire
who are over 60. The group meets every Monday; there is food, music and a range of activities all with the
aim of creating social interaction and improving people’s health & wellbeing.
Describe the volunteering Opportunity
We are looking for volunteers to help at our group. We are looking for assistance with setting up before the
group and clearing away afterwards; help in the kitchen, serving refreshments and generally helping out at
the group which is on 1-4pm on Mondays in Milngavie.
Mere Apne is focus on Indian Older Adults over 60years of age. We aim to promote positive mental health and well-being and provide opportunity for them to be able to go out of their house in order to prevent isolation which can lead to distress, anxiety. We aim to provide them with activities which they are familiar with and also introduce various other activities ie Arts & crafts. Music, card games,yoga, exercise, organise walks, Board games and various other activities to meet their. Culture & social needs.

up and clearing away.
