Barnardo’s is committed to providing ‘Better Outcomes for More Children’. Our children’s services volunteers help the charity to deliver essential services in local communities, providing support to over 300,000 children, young people and their families. This role provides a great opportunity to join our fantastic children’s services and help make a real difference to children, young people and their families.
Barnardo’s Ubuntu Project will support the development of regional support networks for children, young people and families seeking sanctuary in Scotland. The Youth Voice Network will amplify the voices of sanctuary seeking young people aged 12+ to policy makers, through a rights-based approach and within the 5 C’s of: • CONNECTION • COMPASSION • CONFIDENCE BUILDING • CHALLENGING • CHANGE MAKING
The Ubuntu Youth Voice Network is a collaborative process that will bring young people together to share their perspectives on the challenges they face and empower them to propose and seek solutions.
Youth Group Volunteers will support the smooth running of group activities, creche and potential family groups. Meetings will take place monthly at locations across Scotland and online.

be familiar with online meeting platforms (e.g. MS Teams) and work online safely.
be inclusive and adapt to the needs of young people and families.
English is used during group meetings however the ability to speak another language would be beneficial (Arabic, Ukrainian, Farsi, Somali, Tigrinya, Vietnamese).
Barnardo's Scotland provides more than 122 community-based services throughout the country working with over 26,500 vulnerable children, young people and their families. Services include: leaving care services which help young people to bridge the gap between being in care and living in the adult world, family activity services which work to support families in trouble, disability services supporting children with disabilities and offering short breaks to their families.
